Strength in Membership
A healthy, vibrant membership is the lifeblood of any speed skating club. Your club's ability to attract and retain new members significantly contributes to the overall success and viability of your club. A strong membership generates for more volunteers, more coaches and officials, more opportunities for grants and corporate sponsorship and, ultimately, more success on the ice.
Saskatchewan Speed Skating Association is focused on supporting clubs in their efforts to attract and retain new members. By providing guidance on media relations, generating some common promotional products and setting up a forum for sharing best practices in membership recruitment, we hope to assist your club in reaching its full potential.
To this end, we encourage you to promote our top five reasons for joining a speed skating club in your community:
- Speed skating is an affordable sport that promotes a healthy and active lifestyle.
- Speed skating is a life-long sport that develops skill and discipline that are transferrable to other sports, as well as many other aspects of life.
- Speed skating encourages individuals to achieve their personal best through full participation.
- Speed skating provides an opportunity for high-performance athletes to excel and achieve success on the national and world stage.
- Speed skating is fun for participants and a great way for parents to get involved in their community. The speed skating community is made up of dedicated volunteers who are passionate about the sport and the promotion of a healthy and active lifestyle for their children.
